A.R.T. Therapy

What is Active Release Technique (ART)?

A.R.T is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.
When a muscle or tendon is injured an adhesion (scar tissue) forms between the fibers. This adheres the tissue impairing the oxygen and blood supply to the muscles. This process deprives the nerves of oxygen and establishes a cycle of chronic, recurring pain.

Active release allows a certified practitioner to break up the adhesions with their thumbs while the muscle is gently stretched. The treatment is fast, safe and effective. Thousands of world champion athletes have discovered the benefits of Active Release. One of the great side benefits of A.R.T is that once these problems are addressed the weights we use will increase.

Not only can A.R.T enhance an athlete’s performance, it can also improve your physique as well. This is more apparent in people who have been working out for years and have developed tight muscles, and more scar tissue. By breaking up the scar tissue and loosening up the muscle fascia the muscle will have more room to grow. It is not uncommon for pro level bodybuilders to have A.R.T performed and gain a half inch in their biceps.
